Malayan Science to host national Vedic Mathematics competition, workshop

Malayan High School of Science will serve as the host of the 1st Philippine National Vedic Olympiad on August 15.

The competition is part of the Philippine visit of the Institute for the Advancement of Vedic Mathematics’ (IAVM), a United Kingdom-based charity that supports Vedic Mathematics (VM). VM is a system of mathematics, based on Indian teachings called Veda, which simplifies arithmetic and algebraic operations.

Organized by IAVM’s local affiliate MATH-Inic Philippines, the competition is expected to be of high level, as it will be participated by various teams from different Philippine schools, schools divisions, and after-school centers.

Complementing the caliber of the competition, the state-of-the-art facilities of Malayan High School of Science will be utilized.

Following the competition, the Manila leg of 2nd Vedic Mathematics Workshops for Teachers and Students titled “Inspirational Maths from India” will also be held at the MHSS campus on August 16 and 17.
